È nata a Nocera Inferiore (Salerno), ma si è fatta adottare ormai da tempo dall’isola di Lipari, un luogo dove sono portati agli estremi la sua passione per gli elementi naturali, come il fuoco dei vulcani, che ci congiunge al centro della terra, e l’acqua del mare, da sempre presente nella vita di Loredana.

Is Volcano art? Is Volcano a woman? What is sure is that Loredana Salzano, aka Nostra Signora dei Vulcani (Our Lady of Volcanos), is a complete artist, with an eclectic self-examination and an extraordinary creativity.
She was born in Nocera Inferiore (Salerno ), but she was adopted from Lipari, an island in Sicily sea. Here the fire of volcanos, which connects us to the center of the earth, and the water of the sea, are always present in Loredana’s life on an extreme level.

Loredana ha il sole e la vita dentro di sé e riesce a creare opere di una delicata bellezza, ma al tempo stesso piene, vive, materiche, spesso sospese tra realtà e sogno, intrise di mare, impregnate dei colori di quest’antica terra di Sicilia, e cariche di tutta l’energia che solo i vulcani sono capaci di trasmettere con la loro presenza.

Loredana is a dynamic artist, and her creativity has no limits. Her work includes decorated ceramics, large paintings, jewelry made of materials recovered from the sea, and the book of poems “Isole Brade”.
Loredana has the sun and the life within herself and she is able to create works of delicate beauty, but at the same time, her works are live, full, textured, often suspended between reality and dream, drenched in the sea, with abundants colors of this ancient land of Sicily, and with the energy that only the volcanoes can give us with their presence.

Loredana la descrive come “L’unica alice primordiale con problematiche contemporanee” in un conflitto tra complessità della vita moderna e il bisogno di tornare a una certa semplicità di fondo, perché se “la materia cambia, l’attonicita’ resta”.

From this perspective the wonderful idea of Alice Attonita was born, it is a nice fish with wide open sharp-eye, fearing and wondering at the same time, a Mediterranean image, able to make us smile and meditate. Loredana describes it as “The only primordial alice with contemporary issues” in constant conflict between the complexity of modern life and the need to return at the ordinary things, because if “the material changes, the surprise remains”.

alice-attonita-lipari (14)Nostra Signora dei Vulcani in questi anni ha portato avanti parecchie collaborazioni con artisti e amici: Giovanni Sollima, musicista siciliano, si ispira egli stesso per le sue opere alla forza della natura e  Loredana a sua volta prende ispirazione dalle sue musiche per le sue opere dipinte o di ceramica. E mentre lo scrittore Roberto Alajmo la paragona ad una Circe, irrequieta e impaziente di farsi scoprire nel mondo, il critico Renato Candia svela l’intimo desiderio dell’artista: la costante ricerca di ciò che sarà l’arte nel futuro, di come sarà il quadro di un pittore del 2080.

During these years Nostra Signora dei Vulcani has had the chance to meet many artists. The Sicilian musician Giovanni Sollima is inspired for his works from the power of nature, and his music is a sourse of inspiration for Loredana. The writer Roberto Alajmo likens her to a modern Circe, she is restless and impatient to be discovered in the world. The art critic Renato Candia reveals the intimate dream of the artist: the search of what will be the art in the future, how it will be a picture of a painter of 2080.

Nel cuore di Lipari, in un anfratto nella roccia lavica, nei mesi da maggio ad ottobre, appare e scompare l’atelier-laboratorio “Nostra Signora Dei Vulcani”, dove e’ possibile incontrare e conoscere Loredana e acquistare le sue opere.
Il concept store vuole essere il luogo dove arte contemporanea, design e poesia prendono forma, diventano materiali. L’ambiente è strutturato e personalizzato ogni volta dall’artista stessa, che con abbondante uso di materiali di recupero provenienti dal mare crea un “Vulcanico antro”.

“Nostra Signora dei Vulcani” atelier-laboratory appears and disappears in the heart of Lipari during the period that goes from May to October as a crevice in the rock; there visitors can meet and know Loredana and buy her works.
The concept store aims to be the place where contemporary art, design and poetry take the shape. The location is structured and customized by the artist, using recycled materials from the sea Loredana creates a sort of “Volcanic cave”.

Loredana is costantly improving talent with a rebellious spirit, she paints complex picture and realizes small objects and she is able to enclose in a tiny jewel the energy of a volcano’s eruption and the heat of the lava.
